This painting “stem-shaped drum” was painted in 1981, depicting a folk instrument of Dai nationality, stem-shaped drum.

In the painting, a young male Dai nationality dressed in ethnic costume and carrying a traditional drum, is dancing merrily. By standing on one foot and beating drums rhythmically with his hands, the dancer shows us a vivid glimpse of ethnic life.

This is the typical feature of Ye Qian yu's works, "full of ethnic flavor".
