This finely cast bronze depicts the elephant-headed deity Ganesha seated in padmāsana (lotus position). His ample belly, beaded necklace, and elaborate crown emphasize his status as a god of prosperity and remover of obstacles. The trunk, unusually long and highlighted with red pigment, turns toward the sweetmeat held in his left palm, while his other attributes include the noose and goad. Lotus designs are incised on the palms and soles, underlining his divine nature.

Ganesha is one of the most beloved Hindu deities, worshipped at the beginning of new undertakings and venerated across India and Nepal. Small bronzes such as this were typically created for domestic shrines, where devotees could perform daily offerings and prayers.
