Dakshinamutri represents Shiva as teacher of yoga, wisdom, music and meditation. Four-armed Shiva is seated with the left foot placed on the right knee on a rocky mound, surrounded by four bearded rishis listening to Shiva's words. With his other foot he is crushing Apasmara, the demon of forgetfulness. He is holding a hand drum in his hand resting on his knee, the other hand is raised with index finger and thumb touching and holding prayer beads. Two raised hands are holding the fire agni and a hand drum with a wrapped around serpent. He is wearing a short dhoti and a belt with a kirtimukha buckle. Shiva is sitting beneath the banyan tree whose branches are occupied by birds and a serpent.
