Painted in mineral pigments and ink on silk, the composition shows an elegant lady seated within a garden pavilion, holding a musical instrument, her face turned in quiet contemplation. She wears flowing robes with delicate blue and turquoise details, her hair adorned with ornamental pins and ribbons.

The setting is framed by a large tree with broad green leaves, painted in layered washes, alongside ornamental rocks and a bamboo fence, evoking the cultivated natural settings of classical Chinese gardens. An inscription and signature with seals appear to the left of the tree, adding a poetic dimension to the scene.

Translation (approximate):

"The west wind stirs the small courtyard, scattering leaves of the paulownia tree.
In the quiet of the night, one strand of sorrow enters the heart.
How can such feelings be dispelled? Only with wine and song.
Inscribed by [name/signature], at leisure."

The work reflects the Qing dynasty’s fascination with refined female beauty and the literati ideal of harmony between humans and nature. Paintings of court ladies in gardens were a popular genre in the 18th and 19th centuries, blending scholarly taste with decorative elegance.
