Modelled standing on a hexagonal pedestal with bracket feet, the figure shown holding a circular tray in both hands, dressed in a long robe glazed in a mottled green over a cream slip, the face and hands left unglazed and cold-painted with naturalistic details, the head topped with a tall black court hat.

These figures were made as mingqi (tomb furnishings) and represent attendants or officials serving the deceased in the afterlife. The combination of green and amber glazes and the hexagonal pedestal are typical of Ming dynasty tomb pottery.

Condition Report:
The figure is intact overall with minor losses and surface wear consistent with burial and age. Minor chipping to the rim of the tray and edges of the base. Original glaze with some encrustations and weathering.
