Green Tara sits on a multi-coloured lotus seat in the courtyard of a celestial palace in a sandalwood grove in the pure land of Potala on an island in the South Indian sea. Once she achieved complete enlightenment, Tara promised to return in a female form to benefit all beings. There are close to two hundred different meditational forms of Tara, varying in color, number of faces and limbs, and in peaceful or wrathful countenances. I
