Cast in bronze and of circular form, the mirror with a scalloped rim and a central pierced boss on the reverse for suspension. The back finely decorated in high relief with a dense, animated composition of mythological and real animals—winged creatures, birds and quadrupeds—interspersed with scrolling foliage and cloud motifs, arranged concentrically around the central knob. The plain obverse, originally polished for reflection, is now fully oxidised. The surface throughout with an attractive, naturally developed green and turquoise malachite patina, consistent with long burial.
