The pottery vase is of baluster form with a globular body rising to a tall, slender neck and flaring mouth. It is decorated with remains of painted slip in red, white, and dark pigments, arranged in horizontal bands and stylised scrolling motifs around the shoulder and lower body. The surface shows extensive burial patina, with areas of mineral encrustation and wear consistent with prolonged interment.

Such vessels were produced as mingqi (tomb wares), intended for funerary contexts during the Han dynasty, symbolising sustenance and continuity in the afterlife. The confident proportions, restrained painted ornament, and utilitarian ceramic body typify Han funerary pottery traditions.
