The finely modelled head depicts a Bodhisattva with a serene, contemplative expression, the face characterised by gently arched brows, almond-shaped eyes with incised pupils, a straight nose, and softly defined lips forming a subtle smile. The refined physiognomy reflects the lingering influence of Gandharan sculptural traditions combined with local terracotta practices of the Hund region.

The Bodhisattva wears an elaborate headdress composed of a beaded circlet and rosette motifs, surmounted by floral and jewel-like elements, flanked by large circular ear ornaments. The hair is arranged in stylised curls framing the face, originally enhanced with polychrome pigments, traces of which remain visible across the surface. The modelling shows confident handling of the clay, with attention to ornamental detail and facial harmony.

Terracotta sculptures of this scale and complexity are characteristic of Buddhist devotional contexts in the north-western regions of the Indian subcontinent during the late Gandharan and post-Gandharan periods, when clay became a widely used medium for religious imagery alongside stone and stucco.

Condition:
Fragmentary, as expected. The head has undergone several restorations and repairs, reattachment of damaged sections to the headdress and ear ornaments. Areas of abrasion, surface wear, and losses to the original polychromy are visible. Overall stable, with restorations sensitively executed and clearly distinguishable on close inspection.
