Carved in dark stone, the figure represents Tara, the Buddhist goddess of compassion and salvation, standing in graceful samabhanga posture upon a lotus base. She is adorned with necklaces, earrings, and a tiered crown surmounted by a lotus motif. Her right hand is lowered in varadamudrā, the gesture of granting boons, while her left hand delicately holds the stem of a lotus rising beside her shoulder.

Her serene expression, with downcast eyes and a faint smile, evokes the classical aesthetic of early Nepalese and Pala-period models, while the tall headdress and stylized ornaments reflect the 19th-century revival of medieval forms. The slender body, narrow waist, and softly incised drapery folds further echo traditional Newar craftsmanship, though the crisp detailing and somewhat rigid carving indicate a later reproduction made in homage to earlier masterpieces.

Such revival works were created for both ritual and decorative purposes, reflecting the enduring prestige of classical Tara imagery in Nepalese Buddhist culture.
