Of globular form rising from a short foot to a slightly waisted neck, the jar is painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a continuous landscape scene featuring scholars in a garden setting among rocks, trees, and a bridge. The upper register is decorated with a dense band of floral scrolls, while the lower register above the foot is painted with stylized lappets. The base is unglazed with signs of age and firing grit.

The jar reflects the blue-and-white tradition of late Ming and transitional wares, where narrative and landscape themes became increasingly popular, anticipating Qing decorative schemes. The free yet controlled brushwork and deep cobalt tones evoke works from Jingdezhen kilns in Jiangxi province.

The present jar, with its lively scholar landscape and well-preserved glaze, represents a fine and characteristic example of Chinese blue-and-white porcelain of the late Ming to early Qing period.
