The cosmic Buddha seated cross-legged on a double reverse lotus base with beaded rim. His legs are crossed, dressed in a garment with beaded brim and fastened around the waist with a belt. The hands are forming the dharmachakra mudra, sign of teaching. His upper body is adorned with opulent jewellery. The face is smiling widely, the eyes are downcast and a raised urna on the forehead. He is wearing large, circular earrings. A winged crown pressed down on the hair done up in a chignon topped by a flaming diamond finial. The backside of the statue shows no detailed decoration but is kept simple. Depicted in his bodhisattva appearance, Vairocana, whose function is to protect against delusion, is making the gesture of supreme enlightenment at heart level.
