Each plate is painted in underglaze cobalt blue, the interior decorated with a freehand landscape composition depicting scholar’s rocks, bamboo, flowering plants, and garden elements, rendered in expressive brushwork characteristic of late Ming to early Qing transitional wares. The scenes are framed by a plain rim, emphasizing the painterly quality of the central decoration.

The reverse of each plate is undecorated, with a neatly formed foot ring and a glazed base, showing minor kiln grit and firing imperfections consistent with period production. Both plates bear small spur or kiln marks to the bases, typical of 17th-century manufacture.

The pair displays slight variation in brushwork and tone, reflecting hand-painted execution rather than mechanical uniformity, and together form a harmonious ensemble representative of Chinese domestic wares of the period.

Condition: One plate with a hairline crack visible at the rim; both with surface wear, firing flaws, and glaze irregularities consistent with age.
