Each vase of elegant baluster form with flaring neck is decorated in bright enamels against a white ground with finely worked wire cloisons. The body is encircled by large lotus flowers, leaves, and seed pods rising from stylized waves at the foot, interspersed with kingfisher birds perched among the blossoms. The necks are richly adorned with scrolling lotus on a turquoise ground and further floral motifs, continuing around the rim. The bases and borders are banded with floral and geometric designs in blue, red, and green enamels.

The refined workmanship, vibrant palette, and naturalistic rendering of lotus and birds reflect the high standards of imperial workshops during the Jiaqing reign, when cloisonné enamel continued to be produced as a luxury art form for courtly and temple use.

The present pair, with its harmonious design and impressive preservation, represents a fine and rare example of late 18th–early 19th century Qing cloisonné enamel, remarkable for its completeness as a matched pair.
