This finely carved black stone statue represents Black Jambhala (Kubera), the Buddhist deity of wealth and prosperity.
Black Jambhala is a fierce manifestation of a wealth deity in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, believed to protect against poverty while bestowing abundance.
The deity is depicted standing in a powerful posture, embodying his role as a guardian of prosperity. In his right hand, Jambhala holds a sacred object, his left hand holds a mongoose, traditionally associated with the spewing of jewels, further symbolizing the flow of abundance.
The third eye prominently positioned on his forehead indicates heightened wisdom and insight. The figure features adornments, and a thick mane of hair tied into a topknot, accentuating his divine nature. Jambhala stands on a lotus base.
Black Jambhala is considered a wrathful protector who eliminates poverty while fostering generosity.
