The vase is elegantly potted in double-gourd form, with a rounded lower bulb rising to a smaller upper section and a slightly flaring mouth. It is covered overall in a rich cobalt-blue glaze of even tone, pooling more deeply at the recesses and stopping neatly at the footrim, which exposes the white porcelain body. The interior of the mouth is glazed white.

The double-gourd (hulu) form carries auspicious symbolism in Chinese culture, associated with longevity, health, and protection from evil. Such forms were particularly popular during the Ming and Qing dynasties, both in monochrome and polychrome wares. The deep sapphire-blue glaze is a hallmark of refined Qing monochrome ceramics, often treasured for their striking simplicity and intense depth of color.
