This graceful bronze figure represents Parvati, the Hindu goddess and consort of Shiva, depicted seated in lalitasana (royal ease) on a square pedestal. Her right hand is raised in katakamudra, once likely holding a flower or attribute, while the left rests naturally upon her knee. The goddess is adorned with a high conical headdress, necklaces, armlets, and a sacred thread, emphasizing her divine stature.

The sculpture demonstrates the elegance and balance typical of South Indian bronze casting of the 16th century. The body is rendered with naturalistic softness, yet idealized proportions, accentuating the goddess’s role as shakti, the embodiment of divine energy and auspiciousness.

Bronzes of Parvati in seated posture are less common than standing examples, making this piece particularly desirable. It would have been part of a domestic or temple shrine, venerated alongside Shiva.
