(R) A CHINESE IMARI-STYLE DISH , QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)

Dimensions: Height 2,7 cm Diameter 23 cm

Weight 316 grams

Porcelain, painted in underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron-red enamels. The centre decorated with flowering branches issuing from pierced rockwork, accompanied by scattered blossoms, all enclosed by a geometric diaper border. The cavetto further embellished with floral sprays in alternating iron-red and blue tones, while the wide rim is decorated with flowering scrolls and diaper-pattern panels, creating a balanced and harmonious composition.

The restrained palette of cobalt blue and iron-red, combined with confident brushwork and carefully spaced ornamentation, is characteristic of Qianlong-period Chinese Imari-style porcelain, produced for both the domestic market and export. The design reflects the enduring influence of Japanese Imari wares, reinterpreted with a distinctly Chinese decorative vocabulary.

The reverse plain, covered with a pale bluish glaze, with an unglazed footring showing firing marks.
