The compressed globular body raised on three short feet and set with a pair of upright loop handles at the rim. The bronze displays a warm brown patina with areas of age-related wear and encrustation. The interior shows signs of prolonged use.

The base cast with a recessed four-character Xuande mark, Da Ming Xuande nian zhi (大明宣德年製), within a rectangular cartouche.

Tripod censers of this form are inspired by early Ming Xuande-period ritual bronzes and remained highly esteemed in later periods, when such marks were frequently applied in homage to the celebrated Xuande prototypes.
