LARGE TEMPLE PRAYER WHEEL TIBET WOOD WITH LEATHER PAINTED TIBET 18TH CENTURY

Dimensions: Height 85 cm Wide 52 cm Depth 52 cm
Weight: 15 KG ???

Cylindrical large red Prayer Wheel beautifully decorated in red and gold. The intricate details and spiritual significance of the wheel represent the rich Buddhist culture in the Himalayas, creating a peaceful and sacred atmosphere. Outside wuth mantras "Om mani padme um".

According to the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, spinning such a wheel will have much the same meritorious effect as orally reciting the prayers. The first prayer wheels, which are driven by wind, have been used in Tibet and China since the fourth century. The concept of the prayer wheel is a physical manifestation of the phrase "turning the wheel of Dharma", which describes the way in which the Buddha taught.
