A finely matched pair of cylindrical frosted glass vases, each delicately enamelled in soft polychrome tones and highlighted with gilt rims. One vase is decorated with blossoming chrysanthemums accompanied by perching birds, the other with flowering branches, reeds, and birds in a tranquil landscape setting. The subtle matte surface of the glass provides an elegant contrast to the finely detailed, painterly enamels, executed in a refined literati manner.

Both vases rest on slightly thickened bases with gently rounded edges, the interiors left plain. The combination of frosted glass, restrained colouring, and poetic bird-and-flower imagery reflects the aesthetic preferences of the late Qing to early Republican period, when such wares were produced both for the domestic elite and for export.
