(R) A CHINESE IMARI-STYLE DISH 1720'S

Dimensions: Height 2,5 cm Wide 22 cm Depth 22 cm

Weight 309 grams

Porcelain, painted in underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron-red enamels. The centre decorated with a stylised floral bouquet issuing from pierced rockwork, surrounded by scattered blossoms and leafy sprays. The cavetto enclosed by a narrow geometric diaper band, while the broad rim is ornamented with flowering scrolls in alternating blue and iron-red tones, creating a balanced and elegant composition.

The restrained yet vivid palette, combining deep cobalt blue with finely applied iron-red enamels, is characteristic of early 18th-century Chinese Imari-style porcelain, produced during the transitional period from the late Kangxi to early Yongzheng reigns. The design reflects Japanese Imari prototypes, reinterpreted with a distinctly Chinese sense of rhythm and brushwork.
