The bowl is of compressed globular form with gently lobed sides, resting on a short foot and fitted with a domed lid surmounted by a circular knop. Both the bowl and cover are covered overall with a luminous baekja (white) glaze, finely suffused with a network of crackles, the glaze stopping neatly above the foot to reveal the buff stoneware body. The surface shows subtle variations in tone, from pale bluish white to soft grey, characteristic of moon-white wares from Goryeo kilns.

The refinement of form, coupled with the translucent glaze, reflects the aesthetic ideals of the late Goryeo period, when Korean potters achieved some of the most admired white wares of East Asia. Bowls with matching lids were likely intended for ritual or elite domestic use, prized both for their rarity and their luminous, moonlike beauty.
