The vase is of baluster form with a cylindrical neck and applied turquoise handles in the shape of stylised scrolls. The body is decorated in famille rose enamels with a continuous scene of two scholars standing in a boat amidst swirling waves beneath a willow tree, the sky above filled with auspicious clouds. The base is encircled with a band of upright lappets, while the shoulder is adorned with ruyi-head motifs in pink, turquoise, and purple enamels.

The decoration is finely painted in soft enamels characteristic of the 19th century, with detailed brushwork on the figures’ robes and expressive rendering of the waves.

The base bears an apocryphal Qianlong mark in iron-red seal script, typical of Qing revival wares produced during the late 19th century.
