Finely cast bronze figure of Buddha seated in vajraparyankasana upon a double lotus pedestal, the right hand lowered in bhumisparsha mudra, the gesture of calling the earth to witness, and the left resting in dhyana mudra upon the lap. The Buddha is shown wearing a close-fitting monastic robe draped over the left shoulder, leaving the right shoulder bare. His face displays a serene expression with downcast eyes, arched brows, elongated earlobes, and a high ushnisha surmounted by a flame-shaped finial.

The elegant proportions, softly modelled torso, distinctive facial features, and treatment of the lotus base are characteristic of the bronze tradition of Bihar during the Pala period. Bronzes of this type were produced for Buddhist monasteries and devotional shrines associated with the great religious centres of Nalanda and Bodhgaya, which flourished under Pala patronage.

The sculpture retains a rich dark brown patina with areas of wear and encrustation consistent with age.
