This elegant vase is potted with a pear-shaped body rising from a short, neatly trimmed foot to a tall, gently flaring neck and everted rim. It is covered overall in a thick, opalescent blue glaze suffused with characteristic lavender-purple splashes, pooling more deeply around the shoulder and lower body. The glaze displays fine crackle and subtle tonal variation, effects created by the copper content and reduction firing associated with Jun kilns. The foot and mouth rim are left unglazed, revealing the buff stoneware body.
