Porcelain, enamelled in famille rose colours with yellow highlights. The interior finely decorated with four shaped cartouches enclosing auspicious emblems and scholar’s objects, including a vase with flowering branches and ribbon-tied attributes, all reserved on a densely patterned pink ground enriched with scrolling foliage, lotus blooms and ruyi motifs. The centre with a circular medallion enclosing a stylised shou character, encircled by radiating petal motifs. The rim bordered by a band of scrolling ruyi heads in yellow and blue enamels.

The reverse sparsely decorated in iron-red with floral sprays and auspicious motifs, the recessed base with an unglazed footring. Fitted with later metal wire mounts for wall display, indicating European use as a decorative object.
