Of elegant baluster form, the vase rises from a short, slightly splayed foot to a broad rounded body and tall cylindrical neck with everted lip. The entire surface is covered in a luminous pale blue glaze, delicately suffused with a fine network of crackles, pooling in deeper tones around the base and at the junction of neck and body. The glaze terminates neatly at the unglazed footrim, revealing the buff stoneware beneath.

The vase embodies the refined monochrome aesthetic much admired during the Qing dynasty, where subtle variations of tone and texture were prized as expressions of restraint and harmony. The cool, watery blue, enhanced by the natural crackle of the glaze, evokes the celebrated “clair-de-lune” and related monochrome palettes of the imperial kilns.
