Finely carved wooden relief depicting the Hindu god Vishnu seated in lalitasana upon a lotus pedestal, with his consort Lakshmi seated upon his left thigh. Vishnu is shown with multiple arms holding attributes including the discus (chakra), conch (shankha), mace (gada) and lotus. The divine couple is framed by an elaborately carved aureole of scrolling foliage and beaded ornament, characteristic of medieval Nepalese wood sculpture.

The composition displays the dense decorative vocabulary and refined craftsmanship associated with the Newar artistic tradition of the Kathmandu Valley. The figures wear elaborate jewelry and headdresses, while subsidiary motifs and ornamental details fill the surrounding field. The relief likely formed part of a larger architectural element, such as a temple strut, shrine panel, or window decoration.

The surface shows significant age-related wear, weathering and losses, consistent with prolonged exposure and devotional use.
