Finely cast in bronze and richly embellished with silver inlays, this figure depicts Padmapani, the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara in his aspect as the Bearer of the Lotus. The deity stands gracefully in a relaxed posture upon an integral base, the slender body adorned with a short dhoti, jewellery, and an elaborate crown. A lotus stem rises beside the shoulder, identifying the figure as Padmapani and serving as a support for the now-lost lotus blossom.

The serene face is distinguished by finely inlaid silver eyes and details, creating a vivid contrast against the dark bronze surface. The elongated proportions, elegant modelling of the torso, and refined facial features are characteristic of Tibetan bronze sculpture influenced by the artistic traditions of Kashmir and Western Tibet during the early second millennium.

The reverse is carefully finished, with the garment ties and ornamental details rendered in low relief. The bronze has developed a deep, dark patina with traces of wear and encrustation consistent with age, while the surviving silver inlays retain much of their original brilliance.

Bronze figures of Padmapani occupied a central place in Tibetan Buddhist devotion, embodying the compassionate nature of Avalokiteshvara, one of the most revered bodhisattvas in the Himalayan world. The quality of casting and preservation of the inlays suggest production within a sophisticated workshop serving monastic or aristocratic patrons.
