Carved in stone, the head depicting a Buddha with serene expression, almond-shaped eyes, gently arched brows and elongated earlobes. The hair is rendered in finely incised parallel grooves surmounted by a low ushnisha. The face is framed by a halo decorated with lotus motifs and bordered by a pair of recumbent Elephants above.

The reverse is carved with a lotus medallion enclosed within a circular border and framed by floral ornament, indicating that the sculpture originally formed part of a larger architectural or devotional composition. The underside reveals the fragmentary nature of the piece and the substantial thickness of the original carving.

The treatment of the facial features, the linear arrangement of the hair, and the stylized elephants are characteristic of early Buddhist sculpture from the Kashmir region, reflecting the artistic traditions that developed in the western Himalayas during the late Kushan and post-Kushan periods.

The stone surface displays significant age-related wear, weathering, and ancient abrasion consistent with long-term exposure and burial.
