The vase is finely potted with a compressed globular body rising from a short, square foot to a gently waisted neck and a slightly everted, square mouth. The carefully controlled proportions and softly rounded transitions between the square planes lend the vessel an elegant balance between angular structure and fluid form.
It is covered overall with a pale celadon glaze of soft bluish-green tone, thinning attractively along the edges and pooling gently in the recesses. The surface displays a fine network of crackle (crazing), with subtle tonal variations resulting from kiln firing, and occasional darker suffusions adding depth to the glaze. The foot and base are largely unglazed, revealing the buff-colored stoneware body.
