The wealth deity Jambhala is depicted seated in rajalilasana upon a lotus base supported by a crouching lion, his characteristic mount. He wears finely chased armour over his corpulent body, adorned with elaborate jewellery and a five-leaf crown, his flaming hair rising behind and retaining traces of red pigment. His expression is stern and commanding, with arched brows and bulging eyes.

In his left hand he holds a mongoose (nakula), the jewel-spitting animal symbolic of prosperity. The lion beneath him snarls ferociously, its mane highlighted with green pigment, embodying strength and guardianship.

The lotus base is neatly worked with petals and beaded rims. The underside is sealed with a plate incised with a double-vajra (viśvavajra), confirming consecration for ritual use. The surface retains much of its original gilding, worn in places from devotional handling, with dark patination emerging through.

Jambhala in this form was particularly associated with Vaiśravaṇa, guardian of the northern direction and dispenser of wealth. His image was revered in both Tibetan and Qing Buddhist contexts, where the lion mount further reinforced his identity as a protector and granter of abundance.
